Head of Partnerships

About the Opportunity
CollegeSpring is seeking a dynamic Head of Partnerships to play a lead role in expanding the organization’s reach, visibility, and impact. As a member of the national Leadership Team and reporting to the CEO, this individual will have the opportunity to help chart the course of a quickly scaling non-profit organization that is poised to significantly increase its impact in the coming years.

The Head of Partnerships will lead CollegeSpring’s growth efforts by developing and executing strategy to strengthen CollegeSpring’s value proposition while identifying, securing, and building partnerships with schools, districts, community-based organizations and non-profits, as well as national/statewide initiatives. Collaborating closely across different teams and functional areas, the Head of Partnerships will produce tools that enable teams to more effectively and strategically cultivate and steward regional partners.

This role requires someone who is first and foremost committed to our mission of supporting underrepresented students in their preparation to obtain a college degree. They must be a strategic thinker with an entrepreneurial mindset and the ability to drive short and long-term revenue opportunities. They must excel at managing relationships with external partners, and at the same time, deftly build partnerships and strong relationships with different teams within CollegeSpring.


Partnership Strategy and Development
● Create and drive CollegeSpring’s partnership strategy and methodology with districts, schools, and other non-profit partners—in current regions, and future expansion sites—to deliver on ambitious revenue targets
● Devise CollegeSpring’s value proposition, pricing, and go-to-market strategies and execution plan
● Set and achieve targets for new partnerships, retention, and renewal
● Research, model, evaluate, and plan for new growth opportunities, staying abreast of key industry trends and new revenue opportunities
● Develop pitch decks, concept strategy documents, formalized business plans, and MOUs for new partners
● Capture critical data to analyze the health of partnerships and steward the process for progress monitoring, contracting, and procurement while matching partner needs to CollegeSpring’s program
● Ensure that proposals and MOUs are developed in a way that enables successful execution of excellent service to our partners
● Drive CollegeSpring’s marketing and content strategy to increase demand for services, working closely with national Communications and regional teams
● Develop and activate partner experience strategy, including satisfaction metrics for instructors, administrators, students and mentors, collaborating closely with the national Program Team
● Develop suite of resources, tools, and training to support CollegeSpring teams to effectively build and successfully execute on partnership building strategy
● Ensure that engagement of potential partners is coordinated across all teams’ efforts
● Mentor staff as needed in school and district engagement practices and partnership strategy
Revenue Generation and Relationship Management
● Secure district-level partnerships and funding in order to deepen CollegeSpring’s footprint in current geographies, in close partnership with Executive Directors
● Generate new sales/partnership opportunities through research, strategic outreach, and active participation in education and college preparation conferences
● Develop and solidify national, state-level, and city-wide partnerships in communities through partnerships with national non-profits and other ‘distribution’ channels for CollegeSpring programs
● Manage multiple stakeholders’ requests and drive deliverables on an accelerated timeline; respond quickly and tactically to incoming prospective partner inquiries
● Coordinate, support, and speak at events to spread the word about CollegeSpring programs
● Negotiate and bring deals to completion with key stakeholders
● Leverage an existing or developed network of relationships to secure and mobilize introductions and referrals to prioritized potential partners and education leaders
● Build positive word-of-mouth buzz through relationships, marketing, and other strategies to enhance CollegeSpring’s reputation
● Navigate the general and specific drivers of success for a system and system leaders and how these drivers impact vision, priorities, budgets, and academic strategy

• Presence: You command a level of gravitas when interacting with potential partners and are are a confident public speaker. You orient towards optimism about what’s possible through working together;
• Strategic thinker and operator: You are self-organized and can project manage and operate interdependently across internal teams. You strategically plan and prioritize your time aligned to highest-impact moves to successfully cultivate partners at each stage on their partner journey;
• Learner: You like learning new things, teaming up with others, are willing to collaborate, learn on the job, and actively contribute to a professional learning community;
• Mission and values-driven: You hold a passionate commitment to and a sense of urgency for the support of schools, along with a belief that all students can achieve at high levels. You are motivated by working in an environment where we live out our core values daily.

Required Experience and Qualifications
● Deep understanding of, and network within, the education space in California or New York
● Prior experience in test preparation and college preparation/access space
● A track record of effectively working alongside leaders of systems and schools to build relationships and partnerships
● Ability to work closely across multiple functional areas to coordinate and create buy-in
● Prior experience supporting business and/or partnership development within an education organization preferable
● Exceptional interpersonal skills and very high EQ
● Excellent verbal and written communication and excellent listening skills; adept at using PowerPoint and Excel
● Must be independent, able to work autonomously, and trustworthy to take on and manage relationships, while also being a team player and communicative with a broad set of stakeholders
● Willingness to travel ~30% of the time
● Minimum 5-7 years work experience in fast-paced, growth-oriented organization(s), specifically in a sales role or a non-profit development role, with significant portion of past portfolio(s) including working with corporations
● Bachelor’s degree required; MBA preferred
