Whether or not your school offers a CollegeSpring program, there are still plenty of ways to prepare for the SAT! Check out the resources below to get started. You can also like us on facebook for test dates, study tips, and more.



The College Board, the organization that creates the SAT, has a number of free resources on its website. This is a great place to start.


Question of the Day Sign up to receive free daily Official SAT Question of the Day from The College Board.


Number 2 is an free online test prepeparation website. The site includes a feature that allows parents to monitor their student’s efforts and improvement.


I Need a Pencil  is another good free online test preparation website.


Spark Notes provides lists of common SAT words along with free diagnostics, practice tests and flashcards.


Brightstorm’s Online Learning Network includes low-cost video-based test prep with teaching videos in short, personalized formats as well as practice tests, downloadable materials and comprehensive study guides.


“SAT or ACT: How to help your child get ready”. is an article that provides parents with an overview of how to prepare students for the SAT.


Erik the Red (Erik Jacobsen, Ph.D.) is a New Jersey tutor who shares “must know” math facts, formulas and strategies on his free web site.


The New York Times Learning Network  offers comprehension quizzes based on recent New York Times content. Strong reading comprehension skills are crucial for success on the SAT and in college, so this is a great way to help develop these skills.


The Berkeley Parents Network has created a list of 250 common SAT words along with concise definitions and sentence usage.


FreeRice.com allows students to build their vocabulary while helping to fight hunger. When vocabulary questions are answered correctly, the site’s sponsors donate to the United Nation’s World Food Program.
