CollegeSpring Appoints Fred Crawford as Board Chair as Organization Accelerates National Growth

CollegeSpring today announced Fred Crawford as the new Chair of its Board of Directors, marking a new chapter of strategic momentum and national expansion in the organization’s 18-year history. A longtime board member and distinguished business leader, Crawford succeeds Susan Goss Brown, who has served as Board Chair since 2021.

“Susan has been a guiding force for CollegeSpring, and we are deeply grateful for the leadership, vision, and stability she brought to the organization during a critical period of reinvention and growth,” said Dr. Yoon S. Choi, CEO of College Spring. “As we celebrate that foundation, we are also excited to build on it with Fred as Board Chair. His strategic leadership and expertise guiding companies at major inflection points will be invaluable for CollegeSpring as we rapidly expand our reach and deepen our support for economically disadvantaged students across the country.”

Fred Crawford brings extensive leadership experience in global business advisory, strategy, and organizational growth. As CEO and later Senior Vice Chair of AlixPartners from 2008 to 2021, he played a central role in the firm’s expansion and strategic evolution. Widely recognized for his expertise in operations restructuring, leadership development, and high-impact advisory work, Crawford continues to serve as a board member and advisor at AlixPartners and sits on multiple industry boards.

“I’m honored to take on the role of Board Chair at CollegeSpring,” said Crawford. “CollegeSpring changes lives by creating opportunities for upward mobility and helping to break the cycle of poverty that affects so many communities. I look forward to partnering with the Board, leadership, school districts, and the communities we serve to expand our reach and scale our impact even further.”

Crawford is co-author of The Myth of Excellence, a BusinessWeek and New York Times bestseller that reflects his insights on consumer behavior and Corporate strategic response. He holds an MBA from the Kelly School at Indiana University and is a sought-after speaker and advisor in business and leadership circles.

With this leadership transition, CollegeSpring is poised to deepen its national impact by expanding strategic partnerships, strengthening community support, and creating life-changing opportunities for more students.
